![]() ![]() I moved to Mac before Garmin introduced HP for Mac, so I went out of my way to run the PC version. I've been a fan of Homeport for longer than I even want to admit. The only thing I can disagree with you about is putting quotes around uninformed - that was just a plain ol' UNINFORMED non-sense reply. So Garmin got back to me yesterday with an "uninformed" response. So what's going on? Garmin needs to explain its strategy. And the two products do not talk to each other. This type of planning is best suited to do aon a desktop.Īctive Captain is a slick product In itself but doesn’t overlap Homeport. With Homeport I can plan trips to the Chesapeake or Outer Banks, load them when needed and unload them when I don’t. This way I don’t have to scroll thru all NJ waypoints in FL. When I head South or return I can dump off my trip and replace all the waypoints for my current location. NOAA Wrecks & Obstructions, my NJ waypoint list, my FL waypoint list, etc. With Homeport I manage a number of waypoint lists. Controlling the units, turning things on and off, configuring units it does this terrific. Only runs on a tablet which is hard to do trip planning on. The Active Captain product is a great product too but a very different one than Homeport with little overlap. This leads me to believe that are discontinuing a very useful product and shifting to Active Captain. Windows version hasn’t been updated in a while. Homeport is a great product but it appears that they have stopped supporting it. One issue I have with Garmin is they do not have a good trip planner or waypoint manager. ![]()
